Succeeding in ACCA examinations requires strategic preparation, consistent effort, and a deep understanding of the examination format. For students in Mauritius preparing for their ACCA exams in 2026, we've compiled a comprehensive guide to help you maximize your chances of success.
Understand the ACCA Syllabus Structure
The ACCA qualification has three main levels, each containing various modules and subjects. Before diving into the study, ensure you fully understand the structure of the qualification and the specific requirements for each level:

Applied Knowledge

Applied Skills

Strategic Professional

Each of these levels builds upon the knowledge gained in previous modules, making a solid understanding of foundational concepts crucial for long-term success.
Create a Realistic Study Plan
Effective time management is perhaps the most critical factor in the success of the ACCA exam. Students in Mauritius should develop a comprehensive study plan that:

Allocates sufficient time to each syllabus area based on its complexity and exam weighting

Incorporate regular revision sessions to reinforce learning

Includes practical application through question practice

Accounts for work and personal commitments

Allows adequate rest periods to prevent burnout

Your study plan should be realistic and sustainable over the months leading up to your exams. Many successful candidates recommend studying consistently for shorter periods (2-3 hours daily) rather than cramming with longer sessions as the exam approaches.
Choose the Right Learning Resources
Mauritius offers various options for ACCA preparation, from traditional classroom settings to online platforms. Depending on your learning style, consider:

Enrolling with a reputable ACCA learning provider like Hamzah Academy

Investing in up-to-date study materials from approved publishers

Utilizing online resources and practice platforms

Joining study groups with fellow ACCA students

Working with ACCA private tutors for complex topics

The key is finding resources that explain concepts in a way that resonates with your learning style. Many successful students combine multiple resources to ensure comprehensive coverage of the syllabus.
Master Exam Techniques
Understanding the material is only part of the equation; you must also master the specific techniques required for ACCA examinations:
Time Management During Exams

Practice allocating time proportionally to the marks available

Attempt all questions, even if you're unsure about some

Leave time to review your answers before submitting

Question Interpretation

Read instructions carefully, identifying exactly what the examiner is asking.

Pay attention to the verb (discuss, evaluate, analyze, etc.)

Identify the marks allocated to each requirement

Answer Structure

Use clear headings and subheadings for organization

Apply the ACCA marking scheme format in your responses

Present professional-looking answers with proper formatting

Focus on Application, Not Just Knowledge
ACCA exams, particularly at higher levels, test your ability to apply knowledge to real-world scenarios rather than simply recall information.
